The organisers of the London Olympics, are creating 30 miles of Games Lanes.
The lanes will apply to routes across London that have two or more carriageways. It has created anger about congestion and the preferential treatment of Olympic dignitaries over Londoners, including day to day business such as our delivery of lifting equipment.
Anyone using the lane without authorisation will be fined heavily. Critics have nicknamed them “Zil” lanes. Often it will be the bus lane that is used, pushing buses into the lane for general traffic. “Hotspots” may be created at certain places such as Euston Road and possibly near our depot in Wimbledon while the tennis events are on. But
Concord Lifting are planing ahead to avoid the busiest times of day by operating different opening hours, so that contractors can be away before traffic builds up making sure customers are not delayed on site delivery.
